Allen Press, Inc. (www.allenpress.com), printer and publishing services provider, will host the Allen Press Webinar Series, Best Practices and Innovative Solutions (http://allenpress.com/events/webinar/registration), designed for the editorial office staff of scholarly and professional publishers. Four online seminars will be presented throughout October and November and will offer valuable tips for streamlining workflow and creating efficiencies in the editorial office.
The first webinar, Annotating PDFs: A Piece of the Digital Workflow Puzzle, will take place on October 7. It will focus on how to use PDFs to improve efficiency and enhance communication. It will cover basic and advanced tools, as well as viewing and printing options, and it will demonstrate how publishers can save time and money while increasing accuracy.
On October 21, Using Kodak InSite: Uploading and Proofing Files, will address how “soft proofing” works – a key to expediting proofing, communication, and file processing. The session will illustrate how this online portal serves as an effective means of moving jobs through production faster while eliminating error, confusion, and delay.
The third webinar will take place on November 4. Managing Production Costs and Reader Preferences will explore suggestions for managing the cost of production, implementing cost-saving technologies for the editorial office, and combining technologies to provide flexible delivery of your content to meet a variety of reader preferences.
The last webinar, Best Practices for “Publish before Print”, will be held November 18 and will explore several models used by publishers who expedite the dissemination of information online, before a printed version can be produced. The session looks at the drivers and benefits of offering preprints and managing a preprint program.
“Allen Press has offered educational seminars to its customers for nearly 30 years, and we want to continue that tradition,” said Melanie Dolechek, Director of Marketing. “Many of our clients look to our seminars as a way to stay on top of the rapidly changing practices and technologies in journal production.”
The webinars will be led by Allen Press’ experienced professional staff. All sessions will be held at 11:00 am CST. Twitter™ hashtags have been created for each webinar, and attendees will be encouraged to tweet during and after the events. There is no cost to attend the webinars, but participants must register online at http://allenpress.com/events/webinar.
