The AutoProof™ workflow is the key to reducing your production schedule. This expedited workflow is a streamlined and condensed version of the conventional Allen Press 1XO workflow. Using automation, standardization, and improved technology, this innovative workflow can mitigate the time necessary for typesetting and proofing. Employing a consistent style—of the customer’s design—and applying it using automation speeds production.
The AutoProof workflow transforms the first-proofs process. It allows editors to create a first page proof from their own desktop. The total time for first proof generation is 10–15 minutes.
Upon acceptance of a manuscript, the files are transferred to production for tagging and pre-cleaning. The files are then returned to the editorial office for copyediting. Editorial office staff uploads the copyedited manuscript to the AutoProof FTP site.
The manuscript file is auto-paged, and a PDF of the paged article is returned to the editorial office within 10–15 minutes of file upload. The PDF file is reviewed by the editorial office.
If the proof is OK, the PDF is sent to the author via the web. If the paged proof is not acceptable, the editorial office can make edits and repost to the AutoProof FTP site. This correction cycle can happen as many times as necessary. There are no additional correction charges during this process.
Authors return their marked proofs to the editorial office. The editorial office compiles the corrections and returns the revised proofs to Allen Press for processing.
Once the corrections are completed and the issue is ready for press, Allen Press pushes the complete package, including final XML, PDF, figure, and supplemental data files, to press, online journal sites, and/or aggregations. Total time for first proof generation is 10–15 minutes.
