Benefits

Expand your options
Allen Press can help you embrace the possibilities of a multi-channel world. In addition to purchasing the print version of your publication or accessing articles or books hosted on your website, readers with handheld devices can find the eBook version of your articles literally at their fingertips. Researchers and scholars enjoy the freedom and flexibility of accessing your content when and where they need it—commuting to work, in an airport, in the field, in a meeting, in the lab, or even at the bedside of a patient.

Evolve with your readers
The needs of your members and subscribers are changing. Their research and reading habits have been impacted by technological development and new consumer models. Providing eBook versions of your content allows your publication to evolve with them and increases its usability and timeliness.

Increase revenue possibilities
Augmenting your current post-publication deliverables with an eBook option adds another potential revenue stream for your organization. Sold separately, made available as an alternative to other formats, or bundled into a subscription package, eBook versions of your publications offer an attractive additional product for sale.

Add value
Repurposing and repackaging the content you already create into an eBook format is an efficient way to leverage it for added value. The same NLM XML, InDesign, or PDF files that currently supply your print or online publishing deliverables are seamlessly converted to ePub or Mobipocket file formats as part of the production process.

Deliverables

eBook deliverables include:

  • Internal figure and table callout linking
  • Internal citation linking
  • Images, tables, and display equations sized for correct display
  • Images converted to the proper resolution for eBook
  • External linking for wireless devices

To provide the flexibility and versatility your readers need and expect, we can deliver your converted content in both ePub and Mobipocket file formats.

ePub
ePub, short for electronic publishing, is an open, standardized file format developed by the International Digital Publishing Forum (IDPF) for producing and distributing reflowable digital books and publications with rich media and resizable text. It has been widely adopted in the publishing industry and is supported on most common e-readers, devices, and applications, including the Sony Reader, Sony Touch, iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch, Barnes & Noble Nook, Kobo, Cybook Gen 3, Adobe Digital Editions, and Stanza.

Mobipocket
Mobipocket, or Mobi, is a proprietary file format used natively on the Amazon Kindle and the Mobipocket Reader Desktop. It can also be read on Android devices and the iPhone using third-party software such as Stanza, Calibre, and Okular. In addition, there is a Kindle app for both the iPhone and Android devices.
